I teach real art skills — I don’t do crafts. My students learn art history, color theory, drawing techniques, and experience multiple mediums such as chalk pastels, charcoal, paint, markers, colored pencil, collage, sculpture and clay. We have so much fun they don’t even realize how much they are learning! Classes are designed to build long-term learning skills but also allow for newcomers at any stage of the year. I teach the same class Wednesday through Saturday, then start a new class each week. I don’t repeat classes so your child can pop in and out and not worry about repeating a class.
We have a mask optional policy for all of our classrooms.
Art classes have concluded for this school year, as I will be running my Summer Camp program. Art classes resume September 5, 2024.

Owner/Art Teacher
I have had a background in fine arts throughout my life. As a child I was drawing obsessively before I could walk or talk. My mother made sure that I had various papers, paints, charcoals, and pastels at my disposal and I soaked it up. So, it was no surprise that I studied fine art and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.F.A. in graphic design. I have always loved being a graphic designer but never felt great about working solely for the sake of a corporation’s bottom line. I felt the need to do something positive with my livelihood, something that makes a difference in the world, so I opened the art school.
I think it is important for students to realize that art is about culture and that it happens in a social environment. Because art is experiential learning, and because they are doing things about themselves, children often have a much longer attention span for art lessons than for other studies. Art is not a luxury as many people think. It is a necessity. It documents history; it helps to educate people and stores knowledge for generations to come.
